A note from Matt Powers

My team and I have been building for friends and family for over 20 years. I started in the home building business as a superintendent for a local Texas builder in 1992. Since then, I have built 250 homes and managed construction for the 5th largest city in the US for the largest home builder in the US, and started, built and sold a regional build-on-your-lot company. In 2001, I started Matt Powers Custom Homes to focus on creating distinguished homes for discriminating home owners. Each member of our team is fully trained and qualified to exceed your expectations. We build your home as if it were our own. Your decision to build or renovate is important to us and we value your relationship. We are a professional organization and will accompany you in every decision and step of the process. Matt Powers MBA

Native Houstonian and resident of The Woodlands, Matt Powers, with over three decades of building expertise in Houston and The Woodlands, is more than a home improvement professional. He understands the investment in your home and helps analyze market value, resale, design, and location to help you make a decision to remodel/rebuild/purchase for the best return. Holding a BBA and MBA in Finance from Baylor University, Matt Powers has been building homes in the Houston Market since 1992. Prior to founding Matt Powers Custom Homes, he co-founded a specialized building company, and has extensive real estate development experience.

Jeff Kowalski CGP, GMB, CGB; Operations Manager

With over 25 years of experience in residential construction, Jeff Kowalski brings deep industry expertise to Matt Powers Custom Homes. He spent decades working with nationally recognized Houston-based home builders, where he oversaw the construction of custom homes in many of the city’s premier master-planned communities. His leadership encompassed every facet of multi-site project management, from ground-up construction to final delivery.

Jeff is known for his commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and strong relationships with homeowners, trade partners, vendors, and team members alike. His dedication reflects the high standards and personalized service that define the Matt Powers brand. Jeff has earned these NAHB recognized Certifications – CGP – Certified Green Professional; GMB – Graduate Master Builder.

A native Houstonian, Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Sam Houston State University. He is a devoted husband and proud father of two.

Beau Parker

Beau is a Texas A&M graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Construction Science and has been in the construction field for over 13 years in the Houston area. He has experience working on a variety of projects, from luxury home renovations to high end custom new home builds. Relationships are key to a successful home renovation and Beau enjoys working with clients through the design and construction process to transform their current house into the home of their dreams. In his free time, Beau volunteers at his church in the student ministry along with his wife, who is a teacher in CyFair. He also trains and participates in triathlons and road cycling races.

Matt Vitulli

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Matt has more than 15 years of project management experience, spanning residential and commercial construction. His home building experience ranges from new construction in flagship master-planned communities across Houston to significant remodeling and new-builds. Matt enjoys the details and strives for excellence in all areas of the home building process. He places extreme value on building trust through detailed communications and working in partnership with buyers, suppliers, and contractors to deliver a superior home that exceeds customer expectations. Matt holds a BS in Agribusiness from Texas A&M. He is married to a fellow Aggie, Amanda, and they have three kids. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife & kids at the baseball fields or swim meets.

Joy Janacek, Office Manger

Joy is a native Texan with over 20 years of experience in budgeting, planning, financial analysis and reporting. She has a degree in business from Durham College of San Antonio. Prior to joining Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations, she worked for both national and local home builders.

Melissa Markus, Construction Coordinator

Melissa brings more than 15 years of project management experience in residential construction, with a strong background coordinating projects for several premium national homebuilders. Her expertise in organization, scheduling, communication, and construction processes allows her to manage complex details while keeping projects moving efficiently. A native Texan, Melissa is passionate about the homebuilding industry and is known for her exceptional service and ability to build strong, trusted relationships with clients, builders, suppliers, and contractors.
