Saving money month to month in your home starts with energy efficiency. Tesla, one of the most innovative companies in the world today, is consistently making being energy-efficient more available and affordable than ever. The company’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. In pursuit of this goal, they announced their solar-powered roof shingles, which are said to “look better than normal roofs, as well as last longer, generate electricity, and offer better insulation all while costing less than having a traditional roof with the added cost of electricity.”

One of the main ways that Tesla is catching the attention of the public eye is by making their products attractive. Elon Musk stated that making sure the roof shingles were more aesthetic than normal roofs was the most important; they wanted to make a product people would want on more than one factor, or in other words, they wanted the roofs to be “beautiful, affordable, and integrated.”

Tesla offers four different styles of shingles, including Textured Glass Tile, French Slate, Smooth Glass Tile, and Tuscan Glass. The textured and smooth glass options are great for a clean modern look, while the French slate and Tuscan options bring more of an individual style.

It is noted that the French slate tiles are made through the process of hydrographic coloring that uses water to apply the design, resulting in one-of-a-kind tiles that make each roof appear completely different from the next.  Each of these styles is beautiful, and effortlessly hide the solar powers underneath to ensure an uncompromised appearance.

As for longevity, Tesla demonstrates that using their glass shingles makes roofs last a lot longer than more traditional roof material such as terracotta, clay or traditional slate, proved by a weight-drop test. Rounding out the success of the product, making it both functional and visually appealing.
