In our most recent custom home build in the rural Richmond area, our clients wanted to build a house that felt homey, but was still luxurious. Throughout this modern farmhouse home, you’ll find a large variety of different patterns and textures in the form of antique woodwork, smeared brick, shiplap, marble and wallpaper. These elements of interest contrast beautifully against many of the home’s clean, white surfaces.
When you enter the home you’ll find a small foyer that welcomes guests in, immediately giving you a sense of what’s to come. Continue through to find the main living room, an open floor plan that consists of a large fully equipped kitchen and living room. Large windowed french doors lead into the covered back patio, that allows a beautiful stream of natural light to fill the family room. Crisp white walls, and cabinetry work beautifully against the warm wood accents found in the flooring, furniture and overhead beams.
Make your way to the master suite, where you’ll find an oversized bedroom complete with a lounge area near the window sill, allowing a serene place to enjoy your morning coffee or read a book before bed. But the true masterpiece lies in the ensuite bath, which gives you the feeling you’re stepping back in time. A subtle, but bold victorian inspired wallpaper runs floor to ceiling, creating a lux atmosphere to get ready in the mornings.
In the backyard, you’ll find a large plot of land, with beautiful landscaping just steps away from the back door. Enjoy the sunshine and a nice breeze underneath the small covered veranda, or opt for cooler weather on the screened in porch. Complete with a fireplace, a television, lounge furniture and a dining set, this is the ultimate place to get some fresh air.
This beautiful modern farmhouse is a family home through and through. While it’s luxury features enhance the home’s style, function is not lost. We sincerely hope our clients enjoy their new custom home for generations to come.
