Choosing a builder to build your very own custom home is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make! Not only do you want your builder to build a beautiful home, but you also want to make sure they are experienced, qualified and trustworthy. Today, we’re discussing two of the most important and telling questions you can ask a potential builder to ensure you’re choosing wisely!

What do you offer that other builders do not?

The answer to this question may help you decide between a variety of different builders! Though many builders are able to build a beautiful home, the smallest details can make all the difference in your overall experience. Here at Matt Powers, we’re proud to offer our clients energy efficient homes in a number of different ways. Not only do we build our floor plans to maximize energy efficiency, but we’re also an Energy Star Partner, and officially certified through the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program.

A majority of the homes that we build are LEED ((Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified! This certification requires our homes to be built with the utmost care, following strict mandates for indoor air quality, material specification and resource origination! If energy efficiency and environmental responsibility is important to you, we’d be a great match.

How many years have you been in business?

Of course, it’s important to choose a builder that has many years of experience in their field. It’s typically recommended to look for companies with 5+ years in construction and design. This knowledge will give you peace of mind that no matter what obstacles may arise, your builder has the tools and expertise to conquer them. Additionally, many years of experience also means that they are more likely to have built homes in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles. Make sure to view your builder’s gallery, to ensure their style of building is in line with what you’re looking for!

Our team has been building homes for over 20 years in a wide variety of styles. Whether it’s an Italian Inspired Lakefront Lilla, a Mid Century Modern Remodel or a Cozy, Cape Cod Style Home- our team is able to adapt to just about any style our customers desire.

These are just two of the many questions you should ask any potential home builder! Most of all, it’s so important to find a builder that you can trust in all aspects of your build. Building a custom home is a long process, so ensure you feel confident before beginning this journey with the builder of your choice!
