When designing a custom home, don’t make the mistake of forgetting about your guests! Whether you frequently host, or family only visits a few times a year, a well-thought out guest suite is a wise investment for your forever home.

The truth is, if you have a great guest suite, people will want to visit more often! Not sure where to start? That’s what we’re here to help with. With these simple features in mind, we can create a cozy, comfortable suite that will have guests longing to return again and again…

Prioritize Privacy

Though visiting is about socialization, every guest will appreciate having a private area to retreat to. If the guest room is situated in a busy, high traffic area of the house, it will feel a lot less serene. Instead, try and incorporate your guest quarters into a more secluded area. Whether it be down a hallway or tucked away upstairs away from all the noise, your guests will appreciate the quietness.

Give Them Options

Many guest rooms are very simple, providing only a bed. We recommend including a few other features in your guest suite, such as a sitting area (bay windows are great for this!) where they can relax, or a desk area for work. These little touches will mean a lot to your guests.

Additionally, don’t forget the closet! A closet is one of the most important features in a guest room. It allows your guest to unpack and tuck away their belongings, so they feel settled. There is nothing worse than having your suitcase strung out all over the floor on a trip!

Extra Touches

Put yourself in your guests shoes. What would make your stay more enjoyable? Simple, thoughtful touches such as blackout shades, extra blankets, fans, and a well stocked bathroom go a long way in making guests feel more at home.
